Caretaker/General Assistant – WWETB, Kilcohan and Waterford Training Centre

The Job
The position is for a permanent, full time caretaker with duties as a General Assistant for 39 hours per week split between Kilcohan and Waterford Training Centres reporting to Unit Manager or nominee. You will be required to be flexible and to undertake such other work as may be assigned to you from time to time.

Duties: The Unit Manager acting on behalf of Waterford and Wexford ETB will decide the duties that are to be performed (this list is indicative but not exhaustive).
1. Cleaning and maintenance of all facilities associated within training areas on an assigned, flexible or rotational basis.
2. Keep the inside and outside of the premises in the Training Centres in a clean, pleasant and safe state for all units as per cleaning schedule:
a. Cleaning, vacuum, sweeping, washing, polishing, dusting etc.
b. Replenish towels, soap, toilet rolls etc.
c. Waste removal and segregation to skips as required
d. Schedule cleaning activity so as to cause minimum disruption to operating staff
e. Assist in the canteen areas as required
f. Provide support to training centre functions as required
3. Assist with plant and equipment storage and control.
4. Assist with handling of goods inwards and outwards as required.
5. Assist with handling of Canteen goods inwards and outwards as required.
6. Liaise with individual instructors on other course support duties when required, including preparation of materials for learners.
7. Liaise with Unit Managers on other duties when and where required.
8. Forklift driving when required.
9. Security duties when necessary.

Essential Requirements
• Be capable and competent of fulfilling the role to a high standard;
• Have at least two years’ experience in a similar post.
